Life in the Metro

Chennai-The city where I started my profeesional career(14 months as on July 2007). I wanna write a few things about the metro which made me learn many things and more than that made me unlearn much more. Starting on a good note, the good things which happened to Chennai or TN according to me is the phenomenon known as Rajni who acts the the goodwill ambassador of the state. A mention about TN would be incomplete without mentioning its greatest asset-Rajni or 'Thalaivar' as the crowd would love to call him. For me he is the one and only star in TN for the crowd he draws in and the state of mind where he would take the people with his punchliners and his magnaminity on screen. For most of the locals he is the only one in the Universe. I attribute his success partly for the larger than life image he carries on the reel life and in contrast the humble man that he is in the real life; for the rags to riches stories that he plays.

My understanding of the city before coming in Chennai that it was not a clean metro which did not take much time to be shattered after seeing the excellant level of hygene kept uniformally all throughout the city irrespective of whether it is a posh area or not.Kudos to the Corparation which gave it to a private player 'Onyx'. After seeing the pain they take in cleaning and maintaining the nook and corner of the city 24/7, I dont feel like throwing away anything on the road or even spitting. Keep up the good work guys. I hope their 7 year contract which ends on Aug 1st will be renewed for another term also. Still one thing that corporation should be looking into is to improve the drainage facility in the metro which is not worth mentioning at all. The roads would get clogged as soon as it starts raining. For projecting the city as a world class destination for IT/ITES, it should get these things right.
